I finally got my grubby, little paws on a madeleine pan so I couldn’t wait to try it out. They came out beautifully, though I think my powdered sugar needs to be more…powder and less ball. Nonetheless, they all came out delicious and even the ones that burned a bit were just deliciously crispy. Success!
Okay, I tried it again, a little differently this time. Overall it was a good sandwich, but instead of Tabasco, I used chili powder. Still no spice at all. Red Pepper Flakes are a must, apparently. Still, the egg and dogs were cooked to perfection and went well with fresh Cuban bread.
Ah, baking, my one true love. Perhaps my only love, but I digress. The cake came out well, although my oven always turns cakes into large muffins that are somehow fully cooked. Nonetheless, it was delicious both with and without the coconut-pecan frosting we used.
Lomo Saltado is a Peruvian dish of steak, potatoes and rice. The potatoes are usually turned into french friend, and the steak is cut into strips. This is all mixed with onions and tomatoes and I happen to add red wine vinegar to the steak for flavoring. It came out great, although the meat worried me at first.
I never said I’d be making anything complicated.
Today’s Breakfast was a plain omelet with Tabasco added to it and 2 hot dogs sliced in half and fried. The hot dogs were frickin’ delicious and the eggs came out well, but they weren’t spicy. I wouldn’t have used hot sauce at all if I hadn’t wanted spicy eggs. Next time I’ll use red pepper flakes.
Welcome to “The Cooking Bitch”! The bitch in question would be me, a male high-school graduate in pursuit of a career in baking and pastry arts. I’m not typically much of a blogger, really, but here I am ready to start posting about my successes and failures in cooking. Enjoy!
